Loretta Giorcelli Visits Hervey Bay

Lisa and Libby enjoy chatting with Loretta after the presentation.

Professor Giorcelli presented an entertaining and inspiring address at the ECTA Annual Conference in 2009. Thanks to a generous ECTA (Qld) sponsorship grant our regional group has been able to subsidize this presentation.
In this presentation Dr Loretta Giorcelli explored current research findings into the development of resilience in children and teens. She extrapolated from them the critical role of Early Childhood and Primary Professionals in developing healthy self esteem and resilience in children making links to the importance resilience plays in supporting the growth of autonomy and relational skills in children. She drew from her long experience of working with children who fail to thrive as learners both in Australia and overseas schools and clinics.

Workshops / Conferences

We were very excited to have several ECTA Hervey Bay members attend the Annual ECTA Conference this year. Lisa, Romayne, Leonie, Donna and Libby travelled down to Brisbane and enjoyed the professional development, the trade displays and the chance to catch up with old and new friends.

ECTA Videolinq workshops linked to the Hervey Bay TAFE site are well attended by staff from child care centres, C & K Kindergartens, State and Catholic Ed Prep teachers, as well as representative from other community groups e.g. guidance officers.
