About

As students begin school and build their reading skills, it is important to ensure their writing skills are being developed. It is critical in the early years that students develop positive attitudes toward writing, as well as self-confidence about themselves as writers. This workshop provides teachers with the opportunity to explore research and practical strategies for building the reading/writing connection and encouraging students' to engage in writing.

This literacy workshop will:

examine current research about writing
explore writing in the Australian Curriculum
model research-based pedagogies and teaching strategies to encourage students to engage in writing.
Participants have the opportunity to:

collaborate to explore writing strategies across different school contexts
reflect on current teaching practices.
This workshop has relevance to aspects of the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers: one, two, three and six.
