Outline of Presentation:
I will explore with educators about how can we as educators teach our Future Old People and their parents/families to take care of Mother Earth? We will discuss ways that we can encourage our Future Old People to take time to explore and take in everything around them when they are interacting with Mother Earth. Wewill discuss the importance of only taking what they need and why it is important for them to leave things behind for their friends coming behind them.

Presenter:
Jackie Bennett is the Director and Cultural Consultant of her business, Connecting 2 Culture. This is a cultural consultancy service which is provided to Early Childhood Services, Schools, Government and Not for Profit Organisations that would like to improve or build on the services that they provide to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families coming into their programs.
Jackie is a Kamilaroi/Bigambul woman from St George in South West Queensland and is a wife, mother of four beautiful adult children and a grandmother of nine gorgeous grandchildren.
Jackie’s past employment history includes being employed as the Cultural Diversity Advisor for C&K in Brisbane and Site Coordinator in Townsville for Good Beginnings Australia. In these roles, she has demonstrated her commitment to engaging Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and their children into educational programs and mainstream services. Jackie is dedicated to educating Early Childhood Educators, family support agencies and Government Departments about the importance of Embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Perspectives in their classrooms and organisations so that families and community members feel comfortable to access the services they provide.
