OUTLINE:
Noticing, understanding, and responding to children engaging in schema play will help you create an engaging and effective learning environment and confidently plan learning experiences that match the development of each child in your care. Understanding schema play allows teacher to become aware of play schemas in two ways: It helps educators to differentiate between ‘behaviour’ vs ‘natural urges’ It helps educators to plan learning environments that support the development and mastery of schemas. The repetitive nature of schema-play provides children with the opportunities to wonder, test, solve problems, predict, question, imagine and make choices.

Presenter Bio:
Suzie is the Head of Quality at Story House Early Learning. She has developed a deep understanding of Early Childhood Education and Care over the past 35 plus years. Throughout her career, Suzie has been involved in developing early childhood curriculums, professional learning, and accredited training and has been a representative on accreditation panels. She has led early childhood initiatives for large organisations and governments as well as being a member of Minister Forums across three states. Her strong belief in viewing children as capable and competent citizens and learners drives her commitment in strengthening the capability of early childhood professional
